A Voice At The Table- A Trip To The United Nations

A Voice At The Table- A Trip To The United Nations 1

Will We Sit At The Table?

What a week it has been with my EPIC family in New York City at the United Nations. Coming into this I had no idea what to expect. I knew I was attending  CSW63 and I knew it had to do with gender equality, but I truly had no idea what I was walking into. The opportunity for a seat at the table, where the decisions of the world are made.

Psalm 2:8- Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession.

What do we do with our inheritance?

The Bible talks about inheritance a lot through the scripture. Inheritance is not earned, it is a right based on who you are. Based on who your family is, you may have an inheritance. You may be an heir to possessions based off of who your father is. The Bible talks about the nations being our inheritance. The reason is that our Father is the God above! The creator of the world. In order for us, as Christians, to move in our identity as heirs to the nations we have to be able to position ourselves to be in circles of influence. We have to be able to put ourselves in situations where we can influence. Influence is done best when we speak of things we have done. In other words, our actions match our words. What are we doing with our inheritance? Are we throwing it away with our excuses of why we are not doing what we are supposed to? Are we throwing it away with our laziness to just be who God has called us to be? Or are we standing up and moving in our identity?

The Kingdom is The Answer

As I sat back this week with the other delegates and listened to the world’s problems the one thing that leaped out to me was the consistency in not having any answers or solutions to the problems arising in the various nations to the country. Listening to the Ugandan excellency speaking about that their numbers of child trafficking has gotten better…and is only 75% of their women now! Hearing the heart

of a young and compassionate Nepali woman who was fighting for their right to work and earn a living. The cry of a mother who, while holding up a bloody shirt, was crying for help because her daughter was raped and beheaded right before her eyes.  These were hard stories to continually listen too but I couldn’t help myself by thinking…the answer to these problems is the Kingdom of God. It is JESUS! I am not talking about religious systems or even more Bible programs, but what I am talking about is Christians rising up and doing the things that made Jesus so special. The things that aggravated and confronted the wickedness and evil of the Pharisees.

Matthew 5:16- In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

I know that after this week, I will never look at things in regards to Global impact the same again. It is time the Church gets passed the weird, cooky, and crazy and starts to use the brain that God created to develop and create the structures to sustain lasting success and victory for the kingdom! Come and sit at the table and tell us all God is doing in and through YOU!
