At Sound of Heaven, we’re dedicated to partnering with parents to lead children to become fully devoted followers of Christ. Through age-specific lessons, activities, and small groups, children ages 1-5th grade learn biblical truths and real-life lessons they can apply to their lives every week at Kingdom Kids.
Meet The Children's Teachers
Pastor Bobby Riedel | Children's Pastor
From a young age, and throughout his teens, Pastor Bobby was thrusted into the life of ministry as his parents were ministers. It was quite evident, even from the testimonies from elementary school teachers, that Bobby cared for, and encouraged, other children.
As he grew up, he became a full-time Sunday School Teacher. He taught interesting lessons using the technology of that era, and used his musical creativity to teach. Throughout High School, he was also called upon to help out as a volunteer Teacher Assistant for grades 3-5 at a local and highly successful christian school. It was here where he further learned some awesome teaching methods, and creative ways in which to teach christian education, and Biblical concepts to children.
Upon graduation of High School, Bobby went to Nassau Community College and got his Associate Degree is Psychology, with a Liberal Arts Bachelor. Child Psychology was his concentration. From there, he joined SUNY Old Westbury and received his Bachelor Degree in Elementary Education with a Minor in Psychology, and a concentration in Counseling and Child Development. He later received his MASTERS in TESOL (Teaching English to Children of other Languages) Pre-K- 12th Grade! During that time, he also worked in a Special Needs 4th Grade classroom in public school. He continued to work in public school education (4 Districts), and also became peer support for other students with Social Anxiety, Autism, and Bi-Polar Disorder, etc. Pastor Bobby brings a wealth of experience and education into the classroom, and his continued involvement today in working with adults and children, both on and off the spectrum, is a blessing to the ministry as we stay on the cutting edge of what’s happening in that arena as well. We accommodate ALL ABILITIES to give the best optimal learning experience!

As a child, around age 4, I began asking to meet God. My parents brought me to church, where I was introduced to Sunday school. I loved Sunday school, and would look forward to Sundays. I learned so many songs that went along with the lessons, many I still remember to this day. I had one teacher stand out, sharing a particular lesson and that lesson changed my life. It made me want to teach Sunday school. As an older teen/adult, I began teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and Missionettes at the different churches I’ve attended. Now, I am one of the Teachers for Sound of Heaven Kingdom Kids.
The children at Sound of Heaven are such a blessing. I love to watch these children grow and learn, teaching them many of the lessons and songs that I still remember from my childhood. I especially love watching the children have the same excitement and joy when they hear a particular song or lesson that impacted my life (over 35 years ago). One of my favorite things about being a Kingdom Kids Teacher is developing lessons/teachings that give the children life lessons, about Jesus and others in the Bible, using every day activities, toys, movies and things that the children love and can relate to at their age. Lessons that are not just words, but will stay with them in the years to come. I love being for these children, what my favorite Sunday School teacher was for me – someone that is invested in their growth and knowledge, always pointing them to Jesus!
The Bible is the most amazing book ever written, and we strive to bring its stories to life through creative activities and discussions that keep kids engaged. We want every child to love God’s Word and understand the value of applying it to their lives. We know they’ll have fun each week as they learn about who God is through games, activities, small groups, and video teaching.
Absolutely! Our room environments and lessons are designed to help your child grow with kids in the same age group. We’re passionate about supporting them in each stage of life.
When you commit to attending the same service each week, your child will be surrounded by a small group full of familiar faces. As kids build relationships with leaders and other children, they gain the support and confidence to grow in their faith.
At our Kingdom Kids entrance, you’ll be welcomed by a volunteer eager to meet your family and show you how Kingdom Kids works.
At your first visit, we’ll need some information at that time, including a family member’s name, your child’s name and birthday, your address, your phone number, and any special instructions. We’ll be there every step of the way, right up to when you drop your kids off, so feel free to ask questions!
After your first visit, you will be able to check in your child on your way to Church or at the entrance to kingdom Kids.
In Kingdom Kids, safety is one of our highest priorities. That’s why we have a secure check-in system. Your child will only be released to those, with pictures, in our system.
Every Kingdom Kids volunteer leader is screened, participates in a background check, and receives appropriate training from our staff. Additionally, our room is monitored by background-checked security during each experience to make sure your child stays safe and secure.
In the event that we need to contact you during the service, we can either send you a text message or send a volunteer to get you with what is needed.
